Newsletter Feature from Executive Director

In January I attended the funeral of a dear sister in the Lord.  Although I had only known her for around 10 years, I had witnessed a life that was devoted to her Lord and Savior.   As we celebrated her life and her joyous home going, it struck me at the importance of living a life that brings glory to our Lord and makes a difference in the lives of those around us.

In the service we sang her favorite hymn, “Be Thou My Vision.”  As I sang together with all those grieving the loss of this departed saint, the words to the hymn resonated in my mind.  I thought of our mission at The Milwaukee Outreach Center in working with the Lord to penetrate lives for lasting change. The hymn, in my humble opinion, contains a great deal of good theology.  From the first verse to the last, the essence of the Christian life is described.

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Our desire at TMOC is to work in harmony with the Holy Spirit and model for each of our students a life focused on Christ.  Our desire is to see each student make Christ the center of his or her life for implementing lasting change.

The final verse of “Be Thou My Vision” is really an anthem to the power and majesty of Christ’s completed work on the cross and the His sovereignty over all.

High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I want to thank each one of you who supports and prays for us and the work of TMOC.  You play a huge part in exemplifying for our students the power of Christ and the evidence of lives changed for His glory.  Because of your kindness and generosity, many people are able to see Christ in tangible ways.   They see that when we make Him Lord He becomes our vision and the ruler of our hearts.  He has already won the victory and sets before us a path that leads to an abundant life.  May He always be our vision and the Lord of our hearts.
